Friendship groups for veterans

16 Mar, 2022

If you have residents or clients you care for who have served in the armed services and would benefit from going to friendship groups specifically for veterans, a new project through Surrey Council and the Armed Forces Covenant Trust has just been launched.

The power of sharing stories and shared experiences has been identified as a positive activity for this group and there is training available for social care staff working with veterans as well as free local groups for clients go to.

Veterans will be offered the opportunity to record their life stories which will be transcribed into booklet for them and their loved ones and if agreed this can also be archived for future generations to access.
