The Grange is a friendly and welcoming organisation supporting people with disabilities to achieve their potential and live independent and fulfilling lives. We are a charity, a social enterprise and a housing association offering high-quality Supported Living and Residential Care services alongside a wide-ranging programme of skills training and work experience.

There’s also a great deal of social life, creativity, activities and fun. Our aim is to embody our values so that they’re not just words we say but words we live and breathe.

Based on a beautiful 15-acre site in Bookham, Surrey, we’re a centre of excellence in Makaton - a language programme using signs and symbols to help people to communicate.

Residential care - three small, friendly units for people needing care on a 24-hour basis.

Supported living - is about helping people to do things for themselves rather than having someone do it for them.

The people we support are personally involved in any decision-making process that impacts directly on their lives and which will promote and encourage choice. The service is accessed by those living onsite, in independent flats in Bookham or our shared, staffed house in Epsom.Skills and activities – we offer a dynamic programme of skills training much of it developed in co operation with the people we support, including horticulture, creative arts & textiles, catering and woodwork as well as a fudge making mini enterprise.

Work experience

Work placements offsite play a major role in helping people achieve their potential and we have links with over 30 employers. Some of the people we support have gone on to get paid work. To prepare people for the workplace, there’s an opportunity to work in our shops in Bookham and Dorking and our café initiatives, Simply Scones and Inspirations.

Applications

People we support may access one or more of the above services but demand outstrips supply and we are working hard to try and increase our capacity and allow more people on our waiting list to use our services. All applications are subject to funding arrangements being in place. For more information and details on Visitors Days see our website www.grangecentre.org.uk.

In order to operate the above services, The Grange functions as:
