Accommodation
Each of the units has its own lounge / diner and kitchen which allows the residents to participate in the preparation of their meals and in cookery sessions. Each of the residents’ bedrooms has been designed with privacy, comfort and individuality in mind. Residents are encouraged to decorate and furnish their room as ‘my space’ with their own personal effects and choice of décor.
There is a comprehensive range of assisted bathing and showering facilities. Tracking or portable hoists are utilised throughout the home. Residents are supported to participate in domestic activities within the home and a fully equipped laundry is available for them to do their personal laundry.
Person Centred Planning.
At The Chestnuts we ensure that each resident has individualised, person centred care to meet their needs. We are committed to helping all residents lead a fulfilling lifestyle that will assist them in achieving their own personal goals and aspirations. We work closely to identify current hobbies and interests as well as residents’ long-term goals and ambitions. With these in mind, we then develop a social activity programme, which will help them not only maintain and develop existing skills but strive to lead a more active life.
Residents are given every opportunity to make decisions about the things they want to do, whether social, educational or work-related. They are encouraged to carry out many ordinary activities for themselves, e.g. personal shopping, money management, cooking, cleaning, laundry, gardening and home maintenance.
The Chestnuts employs a full time Activities Coordinator whose role is to ensure that a comprehensive and varied range of activities is available to residents. We encourage and support each resident to access facilities in the community which meet their own personal preferences.
