Age UK Surrey
We are a care provider
Depends on Service
Age UK Surrey is an independent local charity that has been providing support to older people in the County for over 50 years. We provide information and advice on all issues affecting older people and their families, including Independent Care Advice and we provide support in the home through the Help at Home service. Whether you are looking to stay independent at home or require support in reviewing your care, we can help you.
How does the Help at Home service work?
You choose the support you need. Our local team will talk to you about your requirements and introduce you to a Home Help who has been interviewed and selected by us. We will be available to ensure you receive excellent service and answer any questions you may have. If required we will, wherever possible, arrange holiday and sickness cover to ensure you receive continuous support. All of our Home Helps are security checked to give you peace of mind.
Home helps are able to assist with the following:
-
Housework
-
Laundry
-
Light meal preparation
-
Shopping
-
Companionship
-
Gardening
-
And much more...
Other assistance may be possible as agreed between the client, Help at Home Co-ordinator and Home Help.
What is the cost?
We charge a modest monthly service fee to enable us to support you locally and our charitable work across the county. To make the service as affordable as possible, all our Home Helps and Gardeners are self-employed. That means you pay them directly for the number of hours they work. You will start as client and end as a friend!

How does the Independent Care Advice service work?
As leading experts in later life issues, our trained advisors provide information and advice on a wide range of topics including benefit entitlement, housing, assessing care needs and later life planning. We understand that when it comes to choosing the right care at home or care home, there are many considerations to take into account to ensure that where you live and the care you receive is right for you and affordable. We also appreciate how daunting the process can first appear. Our new Independent Care Advice service can help you make the best possible care decisions. Whether it be for an urgent situation or considering future care needs, we will take the time to listen carefully to your requirements and wishes and discuss your situation in detail so that we can:
-
Advise you on the pros and cons of your care options as well as managing the cost of care.
-
Shortlist the best care providers for you to choose from, whether it be for care at home, supported living, residential care or nursing care. If you are looking for short-term, respite or convalescent care, we can help you with that too.
-
Assess the right ongoing care for you by undertaking personal visits to assess care needs, reviewing and monitoring your existing care arrangements.
Depending on the level of service you require, a fee may apply. The Service is delivered by Surrey-based Grace Consulting. Age UK Surrey may receive an introducer’s fee to support our charitable work.
