Deregulation
Initially Over 40 suppliers Competition in favourable supply conditions meant lower prices Latterly Rising world energy prices Growth by acquisition sees a reduction to single figures of major suppliers accompanied by reduction in customer service
The UK energy market today
Britain is no longer self-sufficient for its gas requirements... ..but gas provides the main single source for electricity generation in the UK (approx. 40%) ....and Britain has to compete globally for its energy needs with the cost of gas influenced by changes in the oil price and political considerations. A neglected infrastructure means that the UK has just 13 days of gas reserves...less in winter! ...and by 2015 we will be importing at least 75% of our gas requirements.

Some commonly asked questions...
Exactly what are my current arrangements? Is our supplier billing accurate? What will we spend this year ...and next? Are my current arrangements providing best value? Am I really receiving good customer service?
Options available:
In house Time and expertise ? Broker Paid by supplier by way of commission – lack of transparency. Consultant Paid by client on a performance basis whereby fees are solely derived from savings and refunds achieved. A combination of the above?

How does a Consultant help?
• By establishing the facts. • Monitoring invoicing. • Reporting on Cost and Consumption. • Making recommendations. • Discussing the options. • Implementing your decision.
How can ESS complement our activities?
• • • ESS staff are drawn from the industry. We talk to the major suppliers daily. We are seen as introducers of business with over 2000 electricity and gas sites under management. We have no other distractions !
•
• ...and perhaps most importantly....
If we don’t secure a refund or saving we don’t generate a fee!
Care Showcase 2009 – 5th March 2009
How do we get started ?
• We work by formal agreement. • A letter of authority is required to enable us to talk to your suppliers. • A recent copy invoice for each of your supplies.
And what results can be expected?

&
15%
