• • • • What ever name we give it The Service user to be in control of their allocation Most reviews suggest improved outcomes Still some issues with the older members of society where the benefits are not always so clear. • Short Calls ¼ ½ hour not really viable for employing ones own personal assistant

THE SUPPLY AND DEMAND RULE • The over 65’s set to double • Over 80’s set to quadruple • Even the over 100’s become a major number • People living with ill health for an average of 9 years in older age • Downs syndrome • Head injuries • Etc etc etc

Threats?.....
• Government policy • Credit crunch
Conclusion?.....
The sector • Is going through a radical transformation. It is difficult to work out how this will impact on Home Care. • However it does seem to be a central government theme of deregulation combined with individual responsibility • Both to take risk and purchase their own care
