SCA working with CSCI
“Surrey Care Association has established working relationships with CSCI so that they are aware of issues from a provider perspective, and that the views of the independent sector are considered in relation to development of local policy matters.
An Informal meeting takes place every three months with one the Regulation Managers at CSCI to discuss operational issues that social care providers in Surrey have brought to the attention of SCA Board members to seek clarification. This provides an opportunity for any concerns and ideas to be raised for consideration by CSCI. One recent example is the feedback on CRB disclosures that was challenging many providers. This does not extend to representation when a provider gets into a formal dispute with CSCI, although early raising of concerns may avoid such a situation occurring.
Social care providers in Surrey can contact any Board member regarding issues but currently Ryan Kelley and Hillary Austin Ward are the two representatives meeting with CSCI.
A meeting takes place every three months with SCA Chief Executive and Business Relationship Manager to discuss policy issues and to raise general areas of concerns and seeking resolution on matters frequently raised by Surrey providers, for example the recent guidance on whether overseas workers with NVQ equivalencies are accepted as part of the 50% target for staff qualifies to NVQ level 2. Additionally SCA Chief Executive attends CSCI team meetings every few months to update on workforce development and the work of SCA so that providers who are not aware of the funding and support available can be made aware through CSCI visits where support is needed. This has proved a very effective partnership approach.
Results of SCA work with CSCI will be found on the web site or featured in the newsletter.”
