Free Business Event for Adult Social Care Employers

The region’s top business advice and training event for the adult social care sector, The Surrey and Sussex Social Care Showcase, takes place at Brighton Racecourse on Tuesday 11 March 2014.

The Mayor of Brighton & Hove, Councillor Denise Cobb will officially open the event which brings together social care providers from Surrey, East Sussex, West Sussex and Brighton and Hove.*

The overall theme for this year’s Showcase is ‘Driving up the Quality of Social Care’. The free seminar programme features high profile national and regional key speakers including David Pearson from ADASS; Andrea Sutcliffe from the Care Quality Commission; Dame Philippa Russell DBE from the Standing Commission on Carers; Professor Martin Green OBE of Care England; Professor Rhidian Hughes of the Centre for Workforce Intelligence; Debbie Sorkin from National Skills Academy for Social Care; Des Kelly OBE of the National Care Forum amongst many others.

As always, Showcase’s exhibition area will offer a unique ‘one stop shop’  for information and advice on products and services from training providers, workforce development specialists, lawyers and professional services, business advisors, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), care associations and suppliers to the care industry.

The Surrey and Sussex Social Care Showcase is supported by Surrey Care Association, East Sussex County Council, Brighton & Hove City Council and West Sussex County Council with sponsorship from commercial partner Lloyds Bank and media partners CMM and Care Choices.

Many care homes in Surrey took part in the second National Care Home Open day on Friday 20th June.

The idea behind the day is to encourage local people to visit care homes in their neighbourhood and work together to develop better relationships between the home and the community.  It’s a great opportunity to see what really goes on – it’s more exciting than you might imagine.
