Trainers Network

In-house Trainers Network

Network meeting 22nd March

The next meeting of the internal trainers network is on March 22nd, 1.30-4pm

This is an opportunity for internal trainers and training mangers, and individuals who have a lead role for organising and providing training within their service or company, to get together to discuss the latest developments in social care training and funding, and to share knowledge and experience.

We had a great turn out for the meeting in October and we have an interesting and informative agenda for the 22nd March - see attached,  so please do make every effort to attend. If you are an internal trainer and/or have a lead role for training within your service and have not come to the trainers network before, we would be very pleased to welcome you.

In the second part of the meeting, Marianne Davis, the Skills for Care lead for Surrey, will deliver a practical 1 hr session about how to make best use of the QCF and the funding available to support the achievement of individual units and full qualifications.

Please book your place with Jenni Turner and we look forward to seeing you.

Agenda

In the currently tough economic climate, we are constantly on the look out for good quality, low cost training solutions that will help you to equip your workforce with the knowledge and skills they need.

Many of you already provide a considerable amount of learning and training for your staff in-house, using your own trainers or staff in other roles who deliver sessions. We are also aware that e-learning and distance learning are becoming more widely used, particularly in domiciliary care services.

SCA has run a network for in-house trainers, and individuals who have a lead role for training, for some time, and we want to refresh the meetings to increase participation and enhance their value to you.

Network meetings provide a valuable opportunity for in-house trainers to meet up, share experiences and learn from each other. They also provide a forum for discussing training priorities, getting updates in key areas of training and funding for training, and for sharing best practice and innovative learning solutions. The meetings generate valuable information and intelligence that SCA feeds into the network meetings for training suppliers we commission to deliver the free programme of short courses for providers.

In response to requests from participants at our last meeting, we will be spending some time at the June meeting looking at what's needed to help in-house trainers update their knowledge and skills in key areas. We are also aiming to get appropriate speakers along if there are sufficient numbers of participants.

The network is free to join and if your trainer or training lead person/Manager would like to come along, please let me know so we can include you in our circulation list.

We look forward to hearing from you.

It is always good to hear of praise for our providers and I was delighted to receive this information from Sarah Mitchell, Anne Butler and Kathy Saunders in SCC. It is so good to have the extra efforts of our providers recognised.
