SAVI
Visual Impairment & Deafblindness Training(linking to National Occupational Standards for Care)
How do you:
Communicate effectively with a person who has a visual impairment?
Escort or assist a person who has a visual impairment to move around safely?
Enable a person who has a visual impairment to make best use of any residual vision?
The Training
Our training enables staff to understand the particular requirements of the people they support who have a visual impairment.
Staff will then be able to empower people who have a visual impairment to maximise their potential for independence and to provide appropriate support where it is required.
Course Design
The courses have been designed by a team of specialists in visual impairment including people who themselves have a visual impairment. It draws on personal experience of both appropriate and non-appropriate "support", and professional knowledge of effective approaches.
Care Standards
The training provides underpinning knowledge for the National Occupational Standards in Care, at Induction, Foundation and NVQ Levels.
Venue
The training can be delivered to a group of staff at a venue of your choice, or at SAVI's own training facility, in Fetcham.
Charges
A place on one of our "open" courses at SAVI, where participants learn together with staff from other services, costs £45 for one person and £40 per person for more than one person.
A course delivered at your choice of venue, for up to 16 staff, cost £220 plus travel for a half day, and £350 plus travel for a full day.
