CQC have changed their approach to assessing the quality of services. The focus is now on the achievement of outcomes for service users and CQC will want to hear about users’ and carers’ direct experiences of the services they receive.
Care providers must be able to provide evidence for CQC inspectors to show that they comply with the Essential Standards and achieve the required outcomes for service users. They will also have to demonstrate how they obtain feedback from users and carers and use this to change and improve their services.
Surrey Care Association, in partnership with Surrey County Council, is running short workshops for owners and managers to help them understand and implement outcome-based approaches to delivering services.
The workshops will include
- Overview of the Essential Standards of Quality and Safety and the Judgement Framework and how these apply to services
- Explanation of CQC’s new approach to assessing the quality of service provision
- Working through one of the outcome measures to show how providers can demonstrate they achieve it.
- A simple framework for use back in the workplace.
