Dementia Masterclass Observing Dementia
Facilitated by Dr Gemma Jones and Dr J Rasmussen
The aim of this masterclass is to enhance participant’s knowledge and understanding of Dementia Care and share best practice. The masterclass will look at the changes in the abilities and behaviours of people with Dementia and explore how adaptations in care and communication can address these. In addition Dr Jill Rasmussen will address the issue of medication and anti psychotic drugs.

Come join in the efforts to improve Dementia Care in Surrey. In light of the release of the Dementia and Older People’s Mental Health Strategy, the Dementia Project Team are aiming to build partnerships with the Care Home Providers of the county – to share ideas, experiences and understanding. We are delighted to offer a comprehensive programme of free training, workshops and study days for staff working in social care and health settings who are involved in providing care and support to individuals at the end of their life. These programmes are open to care homes, care homes with nursing, domiciliary care agencies and supported living settings, and are funded by the Multi-Professional Education and Training Project through Surrey PCT .
There are 3 training programmes for Surrey social care and health providers; East, North and South West. Please book places on the courses nearest to you, although if you have difficulty securing a place, or the course you are interested in is running in another area, then you may apply for places on the other 2 programmes. The application form and process are different for each area so please ensure you use the right one.
Please note that where courses are described as being appropriate for qualified health care professionals this would include qualified Registered Nurses working in care homes with nursing, but not care workers.
